
Dr. Javaid Laghari, former Chairman of the Higher Education Commission (HEC), and Chairman of HEC National Task Force to review performance & effectiveness of Business Incubation Centers, visited the Institute of Business Management (IoBM) on Wednesday, July 15, 2026. He was accompanied by Dr. Erum Abbasi, Member, HEC National Task Force to review performance & effectiveness of Business Incubation Centers.
During the visit, Dr. Javaid Laghari and Dr. Erum Abbasi met with Mr. Talib Karim, President, IoBM, and discussed the University’s ongoing efforts to promote research, innovation, entrepreneurship, and academic excellence.
Earlier, the meeting with Dr. Javaid Laghari and Dr. Erum Abbasi was attended by Prof. Dr. Muhammad Kashif, Dean, College of Business Management (CBM); Dr. Sarah Wali Qazi, Acting Associate Dean, Graduate and Postgraduate Programs, CBM; Dr. Seema Ansari, Director, Office of Research, Innovation and Commercialization (ORIC); Dr. Muhammad Adnan Bashir, Deputy Director, ORIC; Dr. Junaid Ansari, Head, Department of Entrepreneurship; Mr. Raza Abbas, Head, Shahjehan Syed Karim Incubation Centre (SSKIC); Syed Faraz Ali, Manager, ORIC; Ms. Navera Abrar, Senior Research Officer, ORIC; and Ms. Simra Nasir, Senior Officer, ORIC.
During the meeting, Mr. Raza Abbas and Ms. Navera Abrar presented an overview of the initiatives, programs, events, achievements, and plans of the Shahjehan Syed Karim Incubation Centre (SSKIC) and the Office of Research, Innovation and Commercialization (ORIC), respectively.
Dr. Javaid Laghari shared valuable insights and recommendations on strengthening the strategic direction and operational effectiveness of both departments. The presentations were followed by an interactive question-and-answer session, during which participants exchanged ideas on advancing innovation, entrepreneurship, research, and industry-academia collaboration.
The visit concluded with a tour of the SSKIC and ORIC facilities, where the delegation was briefed on IoBM’s incubation ecosystem, research initiatives, and commercialization activities.
