On 28th October, 2026, the Department of Communication and Languages, IoBM, hosted a British Council Study in the UK Event designed to help students explore opportunities for higher education in the United Kingdom. Mr. Usman Khalid, Country Lead, Senior Manager, International Student Mobility Programme, British Council, started the session that brought together students, faculty members, and British Council representatives for an interactive discussion on the key steps of the study-abroad journey learned about choosing the right university and course based on their academic goals and career aspirations. He also gave practical guidance on writing a compelling Statement of Purpose, covering what to include to present a strong, authentic profile and which common mistakes to avoid. The session continued with a discussion of the scholarships available to international students and the English language proficiency requirements, especially the IELTS exam for UK universities.
To keep the session engaging, Mr Usman Khalid held a quiz in which students answered questions based on the topics discussed, and he presented gifts and souvenirs to participating students. At the end of the event, the organizers were presented with mementos by British Council Pakistan in appreciation of their efforts. The Department of Communication and Languages, IoBM, also presented mementos to the British Council team as a token of gratitude for their time and guidance. Overall, the event was informative and well received, giving students greater clarity and confidence to plan their future studies in the UK. We hope to host similar sessions in the future.
