The Institute of Business Management (IoBM) conducted its Orientation Session for the Fall Semester 2026 for newly admitted students enrolled in undergraduate, graduate, and postgraduate programs. The session was held under the leadership of Ms. Sabina Mohsin, Vice President of the Foundation for Higher Education (FHE) and Chief Advisor at IoBM. The Admissions Department, in close coordination with the VP FHE and Chief Advisor of IoBM, oversaw and facilitated the various activities associated with the Orientation to ensure its smooth execution. The event was supported by several departments, including General Administration, IT, the Office of the Registrar, Maintenance, MARCOM, Security, and Housekeeping, whose coordinated efforts contributed to the successful conduct of the Orientation for Fall Semester 2026.
The Orientation session for Fall 2026 was held on Saturday, September 12, 2026. The session provided newly admitted students with an overview of campus life and valuable academic insights to help them begin their journey at IoBM. The Master of Ceremonies was Ms. Juveria Baig, Head of Career Development Center & Office of International Cooperation, IoBM. The program commenced with the recitation of verses from the Holy Quran by Saad Ahmed (BBA), and the translation delivered by the Master of Ceremonies.
The event was attended by IoBM’s Senior Management including Mr. Talib Syed Karim, President; Ms. Sabina Mohsin, VP FHE and Chief Advisor; Prof. Dr. Tariq Rahim Soomro, Rector; Prof. Dr. Muhammad Kashif, Dean CBM; Prof. Dr. Muhammad Abbas, Dean CCSIS; Dr. Nadia Ayub, Dean CESD; along with HoDs, Faculty Members, and Management.
In her Welcome Address, Dr. Shagufta Ghauri, Associate Dean, CBM, provided the new students with an overview of the academic experience and insights into their journey at IoBM. She emphasized that the Orientation Session was designed to help new students feel welcomed and become an integral part of the IoBM community. Dr. Shagufta encouraged the students to appreciate the achievement of reaching this stage and to acknowledge their families and friends who supported them along the way. She highlighted that education is not merely about earning a degree; rather, it transforms the way one thinks and enables individuals to create value for others. She highlighted key aspects of academic life at IoBM and encouraged students to make the most of their journey at IoBM, embrace challenges without fear, and learn from every experience along the way. She advised them to grow beyond the version of themselves who arrived at IoBM that day and to use their university experience as an opportunity for personal, academic, and professional growth.
As part of the annual tradition, an IoBM alumnus shared insights from his academic and professional journey with the new students. This year, the Alumni Experience was delivered by Mr. Wasif Khan, CEO, DVAGO, and an MBA graduate of IoBM (2001). Titled “From Campus to Impact,” his talk focused on the importance of building a meaningful and purpose-driven career. Mr. Khan emphasized that finances and job titles do not define a career; rather, it is the value an individual brings to the communities they are connected with that truly matters. Sharing a key lesson from his own journey, he advised students not to try to design their entire careers today, but instead to focus on building themselves so they are prepared to navigate challenges and opportunities as they arise. Mr. Wasif Khan emphasized that while a university gives them knowledge, IoBM gives them credibility, highlighting the importance of the institution in shaping their professional journey. He also shared his Five Ps: Purpose, Positivity, Passion, Perseverance, and Patience, as guiding principles for personal and professional growth. Mr. Khan expressed hope that these Five Ps would serve as useful companions for the students throughout their journey at IoBM and beyond. He added that the students should use education to change the circumstances for people around them.
In his closing remarks, President IoBM, Mr. Talib Syed Karim, acknowledged that the students are beginning their university journey at a time marked by significant challenges, both in Pakistan and around the world. He emphasized that these circumstances also present opportunities for young people to develop their skills, broaden their perspectives, and explore new avenues for personal and professional success. Mr. Talib Karim encouraged the students to make the most of their time at IoBM by remaining focused on their studies, continuously learning, and developing the skills and capabilities needed to navigate an evolving world. He advised them to respect their parents and teachers and to recognize the support and guidance they receive from those around them.
