
The Department of Marketing at the Institute of Business Management (IoBM), College of Business Management (CBM), organized a specialized two days Retail Intelligence & Analytics training for its faculty members as well as students of Retail Management course on 11th and 13th May, 2026. The aim was to enhance competence in retail operations, key performance indicators (KPIs), and data visualization using Microsoft Power BI. The training was led by Mr. Arfeen Khan, Manager Data & BI, with extensive industry experience.
First day of the training at the Design Thinking Lab equipped with a practical understanding of core retail business models and functions, Introduce industry-standard retail KPIs and their interpretive frameworks.
Second day was conducted at the Finance Lab, SSK to demonstrate the integration of retail operations with data analytics through Power BI and enable participants to build interactive dashboards for retail problem-solving.
A key feature of the workshop was the hands-on Power BI activity challenge to create calculated measures (e.g., sell-through rate, GMROI, footfall conversion) and build interactive dashboards with slicers and filters. The interpretation of visualizations were discussed in the session to answer real retail business questions
