
The Centre for Islamic Business & Finance (CIBF), operating under the College of Business Management (CBM) at the Institute of Business Management (IoBM), has successfully concluded its flagship Certified Islamic Banking Practitioner (CIBP) program, a 48-learning-hour executive education initiative that brought together 33 participants, including three international attendees from Uzbekistan and Nigeria. The program was planned and executed under the leadership of Prof. Dr. Imam Uddin, Director, CIBF and Associate Dean, CBM.
A Diverse, Industry-Focused Cohort
Held from July 11 to August 22, 2026, in hybrid mode as a non-degree executive education program, the CIBP welcomed a cohort spanning banking professionals, university finance faculty, and Shariah scholars. This blend of academic, regulatory, and industry backgrounds, further enriched by international participation to create a rich exchange of perspectives across Shariah scholarship, academia, and hands-on banking practice.
Senior leaders from the Islamic banking and finance industry led key sessions throughout the program, offering participants first-hand insight into current market practices, operational realities, and the practical application of Islamic banking principles.
Comprehensive Curriculum
Through interactive sessions, case studies, comparative analysis, and practical exposure, the program covered a wide range of critical areas, including:
- Banking portfolio transformation
- Islamic treasury and capital markets
- Profit distribution
- Cross-selling and investment products
- Systems and accounting transformation
- Shariah governance, compliance, and risk management
Closing Ceremony
The program concluded with a closing ceremony held at EMEC on Saturday, August 22, 2026, at 3:30 PM. As IoBM President Mr. Talib S. Karim was in Lahore to receive an award, Prof. Dr. Tariq Rahim Soomro, Rector, IoBM, graciously attended the ceremony on his behalf, on the advice of Dean CBM, and distributed certificates to all participants. Both local and international participants shared highly positive feedback on their learning experience and overall engagement with the program.
CBM Executive Education and AACSB Relevance
Delivered by CIBF under the College of Business Management (CBM), IoBM, the CIBP is a mission-aligned non-degree executive education initiative for banking and finance professionals. It extends CBM’s educational outreach beyond degree programs, connects academic knowledge with current industry practice, and supports lifelong professional learning. The program may therefore be included in CBM’s AACSB evidence portfolio, subject to alignment with the College’s approved mission, strategic priorities and societal impact
focus areas.

- Standard 4 – Curriculum: Practice-oriented sessions, cases and direct engagement with banking leaders support experiential learning and exposure to contemporary business practice.
- Standard 5.4 – Non-Degree Executive Education: The CIBP falls within AACSB’s definition of non-degree executive education; its quality can be evidenced through program design, delivery completion and feedback.
- Standard 7 – Teaching Effectiveness and Impact: Participant evaluations and follow-up evidence can demonstrate instructional quality, application of learning and longer-term professional benefit.
- Standard 9 – Societal Impact and Engagement: Banking-industry collaboration and professional capacity building support workforce development, responsible financial practice and external stakeholder engagement.
