IoBM Marks International Day of Persons with Disabilities with a Powerful Message of Empathy and Inclusion

The Institute of Business Management (IoBM) marked the International Day of Persons with Disabilities on Tuesday, December 03, 2025, with inspiring and thought-provoking sessions addressed by Prof. Dr. Tariq Rahim Soomro, Rector of IoBM. Prof. Dr. Tariq Rahim Soomro was accompanied by IoBM’s Dr. Nadia Ayub, Dean of the College of Economics and Social Development (CESD); Dr. Shagufta Ghauri, Acting Associate Dean for Undergraduate Programs; Dr. Shahid Amjad, Acting Registrar; and Mr. Imdad Ali Mugheri, Manager of the Quality Enhancement Cell & Internal Audit for Quality Enhancement (QEC/IAQE). Their collective presence alongside the Rector underscored IoBM’s deep institutional commitment to fostering a truly inclusive, accessible, and empathetic campus environment for every member of its community.

Speaking to students, Prof. Dr. Tariq Soomro stressed that this day is much more than a ceremonial observance. He described it as a powerful global reminder that every individual, irrespective of physical or cognitive ability, possesses unique talents and deserves dignity, equal opportunity, and full participation in society. The Rector urged the IoBM community to move beyond mere sympathy and cultivate genuine empathy: truly understanding the lived realities of persons with disabilities, dismantling both visible and invisible barriers, and proactively building an environment where everyone can flourish. He outlined practical measures such as accessible infrastructure, inclusive recruitment policies, assistive technologies in classrooms, and a campus culture rooted in respect and support.

Dr. Tariq Soomro reaffirmed IoBM’s unwavering commitment to further strengthening its inclusivity initiatives, fully aligning them with United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 10, reducing inequalities within and among countries by empowering and promoting the social, economic, and political inclusion of all, with special focus on persons with disabilities. The session ended on an uplifting note with the Rector’s heartfelt call to action: Let us make empathy our daily practice. IoBM continues to set a shining example of inclusive education and workplace practices in Pakistan, ensuring no one is left behind.
