Italian luminaries visit IoBM

A distinguished Italian Scholar, Professor Elena Togni, along with Mr. Gianluca Rubagotti, Consul General of Italy, and Mr. Aarij Iqbal, President, Italian Development Committee (IDC), visited the Institute of Business Management (IoBM) on Wednesday, November 29, 2017.

They were received by Mr. Talib S. Karim, President IoBM. Professor Elena Togni shared her views and insights on “Vienna Convention on the International Sale of Goods, with a Comparative Perspective” at the Entrepreneurship and Management Excellence Center (EMEC). Mr. Gianluca Rubagotti introduced Professor Elena Togni and Mr. Aarij Iqbal to the audience.

Present on this occasion were Dr. Ejaz Ahmed, Acting Rector IoBM and Dean CCSIS; Dr. Shahida Wizarat, Dean CESD; Dr. Syed Irfan Hyder, Dean CBM and CES, students, faculty and management.

Mr. Talib S. Karim lauded Mr. Gianluca Rubagotti’s efforts for harmoniously blending the cultures of Pakistan and Italy and for being one of the most active Counsel Generals he had ever seen. Mr. Talib Karim also shared that under the leadership of Mr. Gianluca Rubagotti, the Italian Consulate provided funding to facilitate the Italian language course at IoBM.

Professor Elena Togni supported by Mr. Aarij Iqbal examined Vienna Convention as a treaty that is a uniform international sales law. It has been ratified by 88 states that account for a significant proportion of world trade, making it one of the most successful international uniform laws. The contract of sale is the backbone of international trade in all countries, irrespective of their legal tradition or level of economic development. It is, therefore, considered one of the core international trade law conventions whose universal adoption is desirable, as presented by distinguished Italian guests.
