In line with IoBM’s mission to foster and promote continuous professional and technical development of all employees, IoBM is committed to developing all employees while contributing towards the sustainability goals set by the United Nations. Mr. Asif Z. Warsi, Senior Assistant Manager, QEC/IQAE-IoBM attended a one-day capacity-building workshop on international rankings for Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), which was organized by the Sindh Higher Education Commission (Sindh HEC) at Salim Habib University.
It sharpened awareness of different international rankings, their methodologies, and characteristics as well as making clear the importance they have in the higher education landscape. The consequences are up to universities in terms of how they can play a role in UN SDGs 4 (Quality Education) and 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth), the participants explored. These goals highlight the role of quality education and inclusive economic growth based on capacity building and skill development, where IoBM continues to lead.
Mr. Warsi commended IoBM for being an institution that is striving to work with their employees for capacity building to remain one of the best institutions in Pakistan according to the global rankings system and be a contribution towards the goals set by the UN for sustainable development. Commenting on the rankings, he said, these can be understood not just for enhancing institutional performance but also for aligning with SDGs which are aimed at building a sustainable future.
Through participation in this workshop, IoBM not only reiterates its strong commitment to SDG 4 by investing in the education and capacity of its staff but also invests in its human capital for SDG 8, needed for them to thrive in the new global learning ecosystem, free market economy. The project underscores the forward-looking vision of IoBM for capacity building and sustainability, aligning with its core mission to make relevant contributions to society through education and development.
