The Spring 2025 Orientation took place under the visionary leadership of Ms. Sabina Mohsin, Vice President (VP) of the Foundation for Higher Education (FHE) and Chief Advisor at IoBM. Her insightful guidance was instrumental in the event's success. The Admissions Department worked closely with VP - FHE to ensure the seamless organization of all Orientation activities. This collaborative effort demonstrated a shared dedication to offering new students a warm and enriching introduction to their academic journey at IoBM.
The Institute of Business Management (IoBM) organized its Spring 2025 Orientation on Saturday, January 25, 2025. The event welcomed newly inducted students, providing them with valuable insights into their academic journey at IoBM. The Master of Ceremonies, Ms. Nida Zehra Abbas, guided the audience through the proceedings. The session commenced with the screening of the IoBM Documentary, offering an overview of campus life and the opportunities available to students. This was followed by the recitation of verses from the Holy Quran by Muhammad Sohaib, an MBA student.
Prof. Dr. Muhammad Abbas, Dean of the College of Computer Science and Information Systems (CCSIS), delivered the welcome address. He warmly welcomed the new students, emphasizing that IoBM is a legacy of excellence, having emerged as a premier institution of higher education in Pakistan. Over the years, IoBM has nurtured countless professionals, leaders, and entrepreneurs who are contributing to various fields in Pakistan and abroad. While providing an overview of IoBM, he highlighted the strengths and opportunities that await students at its four constituent colleges, including: College of Business Management (CBM), College of Computer Science and Information Systems (CCSIS), College of Economics and Social Development (CESD), and
College of Engineering and Sciences (CES)..
Prof. Dr. Muhammad Abbas noted that acquiring knowledge is not merely about earning grades but also about gaining experience, developing one's personality, and engaging in various activities. He emphasized that students must uphold a code of conduct, maintain academic honesty, show respect to colleagues and faculty members, and adhere to IoBM's rules and principles. He encouraged students to view their time at IoBM as an opportunity not only to earn a degree but also to discover who they are and make a meaningful difference in their lives. Prof. Dr. Muhammad Abbas urged students to step out of their comfort zones and develop their personalities to become future leaders. "IoBM is a community that will help you achieve your goals and provide the professional direction you deserve," he remarked. He also outlined key policy points that the new students should follow during their time at IoBM. His presentation covered topics including campus life (continuous assessment system, academic counseling, attendance, code of conduct, student societies, social media policies), the semester system and credit hours (catalog, academic calendar, CGPA), and information about various departments (Academics, Transport, Finance, IT, Security, Scholarships, Internship, and Placement). He concluded by highlighting IoBM's commitment to academic excellence, research, and co-curricular activities, setting the tone for the incoming batch to maximize their potential.
Ms. Nida Zehra Abbas introduced the students to the various student societies at IoBM, encouraging them to join societies aligned with their interests. She emphasized the role of these societies in fostering skills such as teamwork, decision-making, and problem-solving through diverse events and initiatives. IoBM alumnus Mubashir Bhania (a graduate of Computer Science, Spring 2024), now an Associate Technical Consultant at Infotech Group, shared his inspiring journey, reflecting on how IoBM’s academic and extracurricular opportunities contributed to his personal and professional growth. His motivational speech resonated deeply with the audience, inspiring them to make the most of their time at IoBM. He shared five lessons: One: learn beyond the classroom by attending workshops, seminars, and participating in competitions to develop your skills. Two: be curious and take initiative by asking questions both inside and outside the classroom. Three: build lasting connections by collaborating with seniors and faculty members. Investing in relationships will help you grow. Four: manage your time effectively to balance academics and extracurricular activities. Five: embrace challenges and stay resilient. You will face challenges, but seek opportunities within each challenge.
In his concluding remarks, Rector IoBM, Prof. Dr. Tariq Rahim Soomro emphasized upon IoBM’s commitment to their success and personal development. He discussed the Arabic word Amanah (or Amanat in Urdu), which signifies trust, integrity, and trustworthiness. He highlighted key aspects of this concept, explaining that it means being trustworthy, responsible, handling duties with care, and acting morally and honestly. He stressed that honesty is the cornerstone of success in life. Rector IoBM advised students to admit their mistakes, take responsibility for their studies, pay attention to class lectures, care for campus resources, respect faculty, parents, and peers, maintain confidentiality, and use time wisely.
This event successfully set the stage for the new students to embark on their academic and personal growth journey at IoBM.
